Belle Update: June 9

Today was probably one of the toughest and longest days we've had in a while. Arabella was breathing extra heavy, and it looked like she struggled with every breath. Towards the evening her oxygen needs skyrocketed.

Clearly, something wasn't right.

As we stood next to her, we could visibly see the indrawing of her chest wall as she inhaled. Each breath was deep and laboured, and witnessing this tugged on our heart-strings. It was difficult to watch her work so hard.

It was just one of those days.

We can only do so much for her, and it especially hurts on days like this.

That's the hardest part about being a parent, I suppose. Watching your child go through something really tough and not being able to fix it for them.

We didn't want to leave her bedside tonight, so we used whatever energy we had in our reserve.

After midnight we received news of yesterdays echo. It revealed that her pulmonary hypertension has gotten much worse, so Belle would need an immediate dose of diuretics to help clear the excess fluid in her lungs. It would be the fastest way to ease her heart's workload, and reduce the high blood pressure in her lungs.

The diuretics needed to be administered through IV, however, since that would be quickest way to get results.

A new IV line was just one of the many procedures today.

All you can do is hold her soother or grasp her hand, and tell her that you're with her.

We wish we could shield her pain like we shield her eyes from the bright lights.

She's our little hero for being so strong. If only we were as tough as she is!
