Getting settled

It feels so good to be home.

Kiera and I are still getting everything sorted and organized. We're modifying our living space, trying out different arrangements, and having a ton of fun with Belle in the process. 

After nearly six months of hospitals, we finally didn't have to go anywhere today. It's the way mom and dad like it 😄

We're both homebodies by nature. We absolutely love spending time at home (who doesn't?). We typically keep to ourselves, we rarely venture out, and we stay within our comfort zone. 

But towards the end of 2016 we were forced to dramatically adjust. We had to face the world, put comfort and normalcy on hold, and deal with a lot of tense situations. 

To be honest with you, I'm not exactly sure how we managed, but somehow we did. And boy, was it ever worth it.

We simply did what we had to. We went out there and tried to put on a brave face. We attempted to transform ourselves into fearless and confident individuals. We simply had to adapt to our new environment. 

Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it was just too much for us. We learned so many lessons. 

In the end, the result was still the same - we found strength we didn't know we had inside us. 

Arabella surprised everyone, and we surprised ourselves.

Now that we've finally returned home, it's like all of the adrenaline has worn off, and we're realizing just how tired we are. Our bodies are shutting down. We desperately need to get ourselves back on track. 

It's going to take some time to recover. 

I still haven't been able to sleep more than 4 consecutive hours at a time. Staying up the entire night has obviously taken its toll, but in the next few weeks we'll figure that out. Belle's getting much better at sleeping throughout the entire night, and that's fantastic news. 

Things are already starting to normalize. It's such a difference being home, and it's only going to get better from here.
