Happy 5 months

"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."

Arabella made fantastic progress this month:
  • Her breathing improved and she advanced to 'low flow' oxygen
  • DNA tests revealed that her bone condition isn't a genetic issue (but a case of severe prematurity)
  • Her sugars began to slowly stabilize
  • She ditched a ton of drugs that had awful side effects
  • She's up to 7.5 pounds (3.3kg)
  • She had her first bottle (and she continues to work on bottle feeding)

After so many set-backs in the past, she finally garnered a lot of wins. Belle's worked really hard to get here, and she deserves all the praise in the world.

Everyone is so proud of her accomplishments. She's getting so much bigger and stronger. She's so much more aware. Her fun and bright personality continues to shine, and it's very admirable.

She's a constant bright light in our lives. She's a wonderful, lovable, kissable...beautiful Bella 💗

A lot can happen within a month, huh? And how did we get to 5 months so quickly?

Belle's actually 2 months old (corrected). They say you should correct a premature baby's age until they're about 2 or 3 years old. Apparently, it makes it easier for strangers to understand. It also keeps them from asking too many questions, if you're shy or uncomfortable about that sort of thing.

Belle's got a lot of traction these days, and hopefully that momentum can push us all the way home. There are still a lot of things going on (that will require time and effort), but everything is getting increasingly better. And isn't that the most important?

Mom and dad have never been so tired, but we've never felt so focused and fulfilled, either.

Eyes on the prize.

We're all in your corner Arabella, and we're cheering for you!

Go Bella Go! ðŸ˜ƒ
