Belle Update: July 11

Things have been going great for Belle. She made huge strides this week.

Mom and dad just watch in amazement.

These are big steps for Arabella. Monumental steps. She's finally off the sugar meds, she's doing well on low flow, and now she's bottle feeding.

We're in awe.

Today was day two of the bottle, and Belle's showing everyone she's a pro. She's still getting half of her feed by bottle, and the remainder goes down via her feeding tube (currently the feeding tube goes through her nostril, so that's why you can't really see it in the photos).

Slowly but surely, we'll get her bottle feeding larger amounts. It's a lot of breast milk to handle in a short amount of time, and we need to be mindful of her reflux.

We know Belle still needs lots of time, and she'll lets us know when she's ready.

Burping is always fun 😄

Arabella had a low glucometer reading before her 3pm feed, but hopefully it was a one-off. We want avoid going back on the Diazoxide, since it brought a lot of breathing complications.

It would be nice to finally close the chapter on the hypoglycemia, but that will take time. Belle might have to eat more frequently (or for longer amounts of time) to keep those sugars in check.

Either way, we're getting closer to the finish line. We can almost see it. We're getting into the home stretch now, and it feels so good.
