It was Bella's first day in Pediatrics.
Let's take a walk inside...
It's a new chapter.
A fresh start.
We graduated from the NICU, and we celebrated the win. But now it feels like the first day of school, and we're the new kid in class.
It's like we moved to a new town, and we suddenly miss our old friends.
It's an adjustment for all of us.
In the Pediatric unit at Sick Kids, about half of patients have common conditions, while the other half are fighting much much tougher battles. It includes infants, children, and teenagers.
"Lord, please calm my heart and take away my anxiety."
Change is hard.
The staff here have expertise in the care of children with chronic and complex medical needs. They're very knowledgeable and capable. But it's a different ball game over here. It will take some getting used to.
Bigger challenges lie ahead.
Some days are so easy, and some days are hard.
