Belle Update: May 8

A great day for Arabella.

She's doing really well breathing on her own so far. Her oxygen support is around 26-30% and hopefully it will go down little by little as her lungs slowly heal.

It's going to take time.

Her little voice is so raspy when she tries to cry. We were troubled when we first heard it, but we're used to it now. It's far from the old cry we first heard when she was only a week or two old. Now it's not much of a cry at all. It sounds more like a very congested wheeze or cough.

One day she will have a mighty cry, I'm sure! It will be something to look forward to and celebrate 😃

Kiera was able to hold her on two occasions today. It's so much easier to pull her out of the incubator now that she's on the mask. While Belle was on the vent the tube coming out of her wind-pipe was a huge risk to her. We always needed a respiratory therapist to help take Belle out for a hold. Now the nurse can pull her out herself without worries.

I really hope we never have to see that vent tube ever again.

Arabella's last weight was 1715 grams (3.8 lbs). It's crazy. She's not the tiny little thing she once was...

These kids huh? They grow up too fast 💗
